I was so excited to be asked to share my swaddling tips with The Washington Post On Parenting! While there is no shortage of shortcuts out there with velcro swaddles, sleep sacks and magic suits, I think the old-school swaddle still has lots of value, once you get enough practice with it. It really creates such a comfortable sensation for most babies, helps baby sleep longer when placed on his or her back as he or she is not waking themselves up by that infant moro reflex. Just make sure that the swaddle is nice and secure to avoid baby covering his or her face with the blanket.
